A Special 2018 Kind of Father's Day Message

I've been seeing a fair bit in the news coverage lately about federal policy changes which have resulted in children being separated from their parents at the border of the United States. In the short amount of time that these policy changes have been in place the US has separated at least 2,000 children from their parents . This is leading to the erection of tent cities to house children because the re-purposed Walmarts we have been housing immigrant children in are near full capacity. This according to the President of the American Academy of Pediatrics, as well as anyone with common sense, is horrible for the mental and emotional health of children . As a father and a US citizen I'm outraged by the trauma these children are experiencing at the hands of the federal government.  And things have taken an even more irritating turn.  Our Attorney General, who is quoted as saying the KKK  " were  OK until I learned they smoked pot ," cited the Apostle Paul in...

Happy incarnation day.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. Jesus was and is the God of the bible.  Today we celebrate him coming as a helpless child.  Happy incarnation day! http://bible.us/John1.14.ESV

Best Bible application on Android?

The easy winner is in my book is The Bible App  from YouVersion and LifeChurch.tv .  It is by far the most popular Bible application on android and was one of the 100 most downloaded apps for both iPhone and iPad.     The Bible App has just about every Bible translation you can think of from the KJV to the Message.  Many of which are downloadable for offline use for free in case you are ever off network and still want the convenience of reading on your phone.  It also has several languages with multiple translations for most languages.     One of my favorite things about YouVersion is that they have literally hundreds of  reading plans for those of us who need a little help figuring out what to read.  There are whole Bible reading plans for reading the entire bible in some amount of time, typically a year.  My personal favorite is the  M'Cheyne one year reading plan.  The also hav...

Giving to those in need this Christmas?

One of my favourite missions organizations, Gospel for Asia , has an excellent Christmas catalogued , for giving to those in need in Asia.  You can give an animal, which as Alton Brown says is like giving someone a small business .  People can sell eggs from chickens, milk from goats, etc. Also you can give blankets, fishing nets, even a well.     One thing that I love about Gospel for Asia is that they promise to send 100% of your donation to the missions field.  So if you worry about middle men pocketing money this is a good organization for you to give to.  Everything that you give to GFA goes directly to people working in one of the areas that is most untouched by the gospel of Jesus Christ.
