Ubuntu Games: Wasteland 2 coming to Linux

Wasteland 2 has reached 1.5 million dollars pledged on Kickstarter .  That is the goal they have set to go fully cross platform, releasing for Mac and Linux in addition to Windows.     Wasteland 2 is a fan funded sequel to the classic post-apocalyptic game Wasteland This is really exciting news for anyone who is a fan of post-apocalyptic RPGs and gaming on their Linux machines.   Wasteland 2  promises to be a high quality Baldur's Gate style turn based, party based, RPG video game.  Personally I am a big fan of the post-apocalyptic genre of anything (movies, books, video games) plus I love Ubuntu operating system, so this is really exciting news. Ubuntu gamers around the world rejoice!

Playing Mari0 on Ubuntu 12.04

If you are looking to play Mari0 on Ubuntu you may have run into a bit of a roadblock because love 0.8.0 is not yet available for Precise from the love-unstable ppa.  No need to worry though the .deb file for Oneiric will work just fine.   First download the .deb from launchpad, either amd64 or i386 .  Then install dependencies by running. $ sudo apt-get install libdevil1c2 libmng1 libfreetype6 libgl1-mesa-glx liblua5.1-0 libphysfs-1.0-0 libsdl1.2debian libopenal1 libogg0 libvorbis0a libvorbisfile3 libflac8 libflac++6 libmpg123-0 libc6 libgcc1 libphysfs1 libstdc++6 Then install the love-unstable with dpkg ~/Downloads$ dpkg -i love-unstable_0.8.0~r1028-0oneiric1_<amd64/i386>.deb Run  love-unstable on mari0  ~/mari0$ love-unstable mari0_1.3.love Enjoy what is possibly the coolest crossover game of all time.

Going to Mexico.

Next week I'll be flying down to LA with my wife and daughter and hopping on a ship down to Mexico. We'll be on a Disney cruise ship for a week doing whatever the heck we feel like.  I'm planning on taking lots of pictures and writing about our trip, mostly just to be able to look back and remember the trip better.     This is probably the biggest vacation either my wife or I have taken and it is the first time our little daughter will be out of the country.  I've been on lots of charter boats for deep sea fishing but never a big ship like this.  I really like being on the ocean and we love Disney in my house so this should be the best freaking trip ever!...  I have high expectations. Disney + Ocean + Mexico +  Family = Happy awesome fun time!

Reading the greatest novels of the 20th century

I like literature.  For the last several years however I haven't been reading much of it.  Probably due to the complete lack of schooling in my life.  Which I have to say I do not miss at all.  However, I wouldn't mind a little more literature, it's just nice to sit down with a cup of coffee and a book that is hopefully both entertaining and thought provoking.     I want to give my self a little education in good literature.  I figure the best place to start if you want to learn anything about literature is to just read.  But what to read?  Obviously the best works of fiction out there.       I'm particularly interested in novels from the 20th century.  The 20th century arguably is one of the more interesting in history and one from which there is a plethora of good literature.     I began by searching for "the 100 greatest novels of the 20th century."  I figured that would be a good place to start.  What I found was almost solely a list from Modern

Lunch time in The Dirty!

The Dalles has quite a few restaurants relative to it's size.  Some are great some are down right bad.       These are my five favorite places to eat lunch in The Dalles in no particular order.  Some are old favorites and others are relatively new establishments.  All serve delicious food and drink. Montira's Thai     Montira's is the only thai place in town.  But that lack of competition doesn't keep them from delivering a quality product.  Other restaurants of the Asian  variety  have them beat as far as portion size and price go but they  serve  a quality product consistently.  I can't say that about many other places in town.     Montira's serves really great food for a decent price.  Just be warned if you ask for extra-spicy you will feel it all the next day...  But its worth it if you really like spicy. Spooky's     Spooky's is one of those places that this town wouldn't be the same without.  Its almost the default place to meet peo
